ARCTIC MEDICINE –
STRONGER TOGETHER
FINNEM2027 CONFERENCE April 15–16, 2027
Lapland University of Applied Sciences, Rovaniemi
ARCTIC MEDICINE – STRONGER TOGETHER
What happens to acute care when the nearest hospital is hours away, the weather makes transportation difficult, and available resources are limited?
In the north, long distances and challenging conditions are part of everyday healthcare. They affect how a patient is examined, where they are treated, when they are transported, and what kind of expertise is needed even before they reach the hospital. An effective care chain is built not only on clinical expertise but also on cooperation—between emergency medical services, on-call services, primary care, specialty care, rescue services, the Border Guard, and other authorities.
FinnEM2027 – Arctic Medicine: Stronger Together brings acute care professionals from Finland and around the world to Rovaniemi to share solutions for situations where distance, the environment, and conditions challenge conventional operating models.
In 2027, the FinnEM conference will be international for the first time. Over the course of two days, the program will feature parallel tracks of lectures in Finnish and English, as well as hands-on workshops.
Up north, we can't bring everything closer—that's why we need to learn to work together better.
What is FinnEM?
FinnEM ry is a multidisciplinary association founded in 2017 for social and health care professionals working in the care continuum for acutely ill patients.
FinnEM serves as a platform for education, discussion, and innovation that brings together various professional groups and organizations. We organize training sessions and the annual FinnEM conference, promote international cooperation and the professional development of healthcare professionals, and maintain FinnHELPdiscussion support service for social and health care professionals.

The FinnEM Academy review panel evaluates all submitted abstracts. The abstracts are anonymized prior to review.
A decision regarding the acceptance of the abstract, along with additional information, will be sent via email to the author who submitted the abstract.
The evaluation is based on the content of the abstract, the quality and clarity of the writing, the validity of the findings, and the value and relevance of the topic to the FinnEM conference. The evaluation takes into account the level of the submitted abstract; in other words, it does not compare abstracts across different level groups.
The poster judged to be the best in each category will be awarded a prize at the conference. The best abstracts in each category will be presented orally during the FinnEM conference. Each presentation will last approximately 5–7 minutes.
